Slippery Rock University has a strong commitment to student success, and we thoroughly research the academic background of the students who tend to succeed at SRU. We use this information to establish admission guidelines for first-year students (new freshmen).
The following credentials are required before an admission decision can be made:
Students who have a 3.25 or higher cumulative GPA (in their core courses) will automatically be admitted to SRU.
Slippery Rock University is test optional through 2026. This means we do not require test scores to be submitted with your application. Students are welcome to submit their ACT or SAT scores but it is not required for admission.*
*Students who apply to SRU for a pre-professional advising area with LECOM, you are required to submit SAT or ACT scores to LECOM.
*Students who apply to SRU for the Pre-Pharmacy track with Duquesne University, you are required to submit SAT or ACT scores to SRU

You will fill out this application if you have already earned or will earn a minimum of a bachelor’s degree by the time you begin your additional undergraduate studies at SRU. Visit the Post-Baccalaureate page for more information.
Students interested in the Nursing 1+2+1 program must meet the following admission criteria:
* Hold a high school diploma or GED
* Successfully complete the following courses:
– Mathematics: 2 units (1 unit of Algebra required)
– Science: 2 units w/ a lab (Biology & Chemistry preferred)
– English: 4 units
– Social Studies: 3 units
* SAT score: minimum 1250 (waived for the Fall 2025 class; will be required for all subsequent years) and
* TEAS exam: minimum 80% on reading comprehension
